Junior Accountant
As an integral member of the Downtown Marina team, the Marina Bookkeeper provides administrative for the Marina operations to ensure tasks and processes are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The Marina Bookkeeper will support management with day-to-day accounting and administration. They will liaise with corporate head office, external vendors and other stakeholders to ensure completion of all set responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and strong organizational skills to help ensure the operations of the Marina are efficient and successful. This is a seasonal position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform duties relating to daily cash outs by updating revenues and submitting daily totals.
- Communicate and investigate any cash shortages and/or discrepancies.
- Prepare daily deposits and take to the bank.
- Review and correct cash out sheets as well as reconcile gas sheets.
- Assist in inventory management.
- Collect invoices and ensure coding is accurate with the proper authorization.
- Monitor balances in accounts receivables and ensure timely collection.
- Prepare packages for submission to head office as required.
- Collect and remit new hire packages to head office.
- Act as a liaison and support through open communication channels with head office, vendors, team members and all other stakeholders.
- Assist with developing the accounting section of the operational Playbook.
- Assist in improving and streamlining policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by the General Manager.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Completion or working towards an accounting degree/diploma.
- Experience in an accounting role is considered an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer based accounting programs.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently and maintain a high level of performance.
- Must be flexible and willing to change roles or responsibilities as required.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism and dedication to all stakeholders.
- Security clearance required upon offer of employment.
- Possess sensational customer service philosophy.
- Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
